The Treatment Plan

There are various reasons why a tooth might need to be removed, including difficulties with baby teeth not falling out naturally, requirements for orthodontic treatments, or issues caused by pain or infection.

Looking for Solutions

While tooth extraction might seem like the only option for relief, there are often alternative treatments available that can alleviate pain and preserve the tooth. Our primary goal is to maintain your oral health, relieve discomfort, and save your tooth whenever possible. Before deciding on an extraction, we will conduct a thorough examination and discuss all available options with you.

The Removal Process

During the extraction procedure, a local anesthetic will be administered to numb the area around the tooth to ensure your comfort. If needed, sedation options are also available. We employ minimally invasive techniques to gently remove the tooth, aiming for a quick and comfortable experience with a speedy recovery.

Feeling Better

After the extraction, you will receive detailed aftercare instructions to help your mouth heal properly. These guidelines will cover how to care for the extraction site, what to expect during the healing process, and steps to take if any complications arise. Additionally, we can arrange a follow-up appointment to address any further concerns and ensure your recovery is progressing smoothly.

Cost of a Dental Extraction in Orleans

The price of dental extractions in Orleans can vary widely based on several factors. With typical insurance coverage, you might expect to pay between $100 and $200 or more out-of-pocket for a single extraction. We’re happy to provide you with a detailed quote that you can submit to your insurance provider to determine your specific costs. For those without insurance, the cost generally ranges from $200 to $600 or more per tooth, depending on individual circumstances.

It’s important to understand that no dental practice can offer an exact quote over the phone, as each treatment plan is unique and must be assessed during an in-person oral exam. Dental extractions generally fall into two main categories: simple and surgical.

Simple Tooth Extraction

A simple tooth extraction involves removing teeth that are visible in the mouth and can typically be performed by a general dentist using local anesthesia. These extractions are usually less costly due to their straightforward nature.

Surgical Tooth Extraction

In contrast, a surgical tooth extraction is more complex and involves removing teeth that are not easily accessible, such as those that haven’t fully erupted or have broken at the gum line. Surgical extractions require more skill and care, which generally results in higher costs.

If you need a dental extraction, please schedule an appointment with us so we can evaluate your specific needs and provide you with an accurate estimate tailored to your situation.

Frequently Asked Questions

While many view the removal of wisdom teeth as a standard part of adulthood, they only need to be extracted if they become impacted or cause problems with your jaw and other teeth. If your wisdom teeth are healthy and properly aligned, removal may not be necessary.

Your comfort is our top priority in modern dentistry. We utilize advanced tools and techniques to minimize any discomfort during dental extractions and wisdom teeth removal. Our procedures are designed to be quick and precise, reducing trauma and promoting faster healing. Additionally, we provide detailed aftercare instructions to ensure you remain comfortable and recover smoothly after the procedure.

Generally, you can remove the gauze pads and begin eating about an hour after your tooth extraction. It’s important to choose soft foods for the first 24 hours to ensure the extraction site remains undisturbed. Additionally, avoid hot foods and refrain from using straws for several hours, as these can disrupt the healing process and potentially dislodge the blood clot that forms in the socket. Following these guidelines will help promote a smooth and comfortable recovery.

After a dental extraction, following proper aftercare is essential to ensure a smooth and complication-free recovery. While we will provide personalized instructions tailored to your specific needs during your appointment, here are some general guidelines to help you care for the extraction site:

  • Avoid Certain Actions: Refrain from spitting, rinsing your mouth vigorously, blowing your nose, using a straw, and smoking for the first 24 hours. These actions can disrupt the blood clot forming in the socket, which is crucial for healing.
  • Protect the Extraction Site: Do not touch the area with your fingers or tongue to prevent irritation or infection.
  • Watch Your Diet: Stick to soft foods and avoid hot beverages and foods for at least 24 hours to minimize discomfort and avoid disturbing the healing site.
  • Medications: Avoid taking aspirin, as it can interfere with blood clotting. Follow any medication instructions provided by your dentist.
  • Rest and Activity: Limit physical activities and avoid strenuous exercise for a few days to reduce the risk of bleeding and swelling.

After your wisdom teeth are removed, it’s recommended to take three to four days of rest or engage in light activities. This period of rest helps lower the risk of complications and promotes healing. Generally, you can expect to fully recover within approximately two weeks, during which any discomfort should be minimal.

I went to do my routine teeth cleaning today, the lady made me feel so impressed, her name is Sheila, she saw I only wear a T-shirt so she asked me if I felt cold, then she brought me a apron ( I guess they don't have blanket) to cover me, I feel so warm. This is the true customer service, I have to praise her, for her excellent service.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Baldeep Saran and the entire team at the Jeanne d’Arc Dental centre. As a senior who has always been extremely anxious about dental visits, I can honestly say that since I started being a patient here, they have a way of putting me completely at ease. From the moment I walk in, the staff is warm, patient and incredibly understanding of my nerves. I need nitrous oxide to get through some of my appointments, and they made sure I am comfortable every step of the way. If you’re a nervous person like me, don’t hesitate to visit this office. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel safe and cared for. Highly recommend!

All my experiences here have been great. I've gone for fillings, cleanings, even permanent retainer repairs, and every time I've been greeted by friendly receptionists, worked on by efficient dentists and dental hygienists, and have been made to feel comfortable the entire time. They even let me know prices up front because I don't have insurance. Highly recommend this place!
