Dear Patients,

I hope you and your loved ones are keeping safe during these unusual times! My team and I have been hard at work over the past months to adapt our clinic to allow us to safely provide you with dental treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic. As of June 1st, 2020, we have been permitted by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) to resume regular treatment, so long as the new infection control guidelines have been met. Being a recovered cardiac patient myself, I especially know the importance of such guidelines. Rest assured: I have gone above and beyond the new requirements to keep everyone coming through our clinic safe. I take aerosol management very seriously. I would like to take the time to share with you some of the enhanced precautions we have taken to protect you, in addition to extensive team training on infection control and patient management procedures.

  • We record temperature and oxygen saturation level of every team member every day.
  • As always, all dental operatories will be completely disinfected before each patient is seated. All surfaces that come in contact with the patient will be wiped with disinfectant, including wherever the patient places their personal items.
  • All dental operatories have an AirPura Super HEPA air purifier unit with UV germicidal lamp and Vanguard Vaniman Gold extra-oral suction unit. The units are capable of removing particles smaller than the COVID-19 virus. This helps ensure that there are no lingering aerosols in the room from the previous patient.
  • All dental operatories now have doors to help isolate any aerosols produced during the appointment.
  • Patients will be asked to rinse with 1% hydrogen peroxide oral rinse to reduce the overall quantity of oral bacteria.
  • Where possible, your treatment will include extra safety precautions such as a Dry-shield intra-oral suction mouthpiece or a rubber dam for effective aerosol removal.
  • Our dental team has all needed personal protective equipment (PPE). During patient care, appropriate masks, face shields, gowns, scrub caps, and gloves will be worn by the dentist, hygienist, and assistant and will be changed after each patient.
  • The public areas will be cleaned and disinfected frequently throughout the day by using a ULV fogger and hypochlorous acid solution.
  • Clear panels are in place at the front desk. After every transaction, the checkout desk and glass will be wiped with a disinfectant. 
  • We will offer contactless options at the front desk for checkout. 
  • The waiting area chairs have been spaced apart to allow for 6 feet of distancing
  • We will suspend our coffee and water services for now. Magazines and toys have also been removed.
  • A teledentistry option will be coming soon.

Here’s what we need from you…

PATIENT’S RESPONSIBILITIES FOR APPOINTMENT

  • You will be emailed the pre-screening form to review or called directly by a team member and it must be completed and returned at least 24 hours before your appointment.
  • Please make arrangements to wear your own sterile mask into the office. It can be of any material – even a scarf wrapped around your mouth and nose is acceptable.
  • Please wait in your car or outside the office and notify the team that you have arrived
  • The office will contact you when we are ready to do your screening and a team member will meet you at the entrance.  
  • You will be taken to our assessment and hygiene station where your forehead temperature and oxygen saturation levels will be measured and the screening form and any necessary consent forms will be completed.
  • Only scheduled patients will be allowed entry into the office. Parents and other family members will be asked to wait outside whenever possible. Please call the office from outside if not scheduled. 
  • We will ask that you continue to practice physical distancing measures in common areas of the office at all times. 
  • There will be no physical contact with patients with the exception of treatment.
  • Any patients showing signs of a fever or other symptoms of illness will be asked to reschedule their appointment. There are no short notice cancellation fees due to illness. Please do not come to the office if you or a family member have any symptom of illness

We are proceeding with an abundance of caution. We want you to feel as confident as we do that any visit you make to our office will be a safe one. We are here to answer any questions you may have.
